Lisa has spent her life drawing on her experiences as a dedicated athlete to inspire and educate people to overcome mental and physical obstacles.
As a black woman in the fitness industry for the past 25 years, she has witnessed the covert way the industry excludes individuals that do not fall into the expected and predominant ideals we’ve come to associate with the health and wellness industry. She supports her clients by creating thoughtful programming that is both challenging and empathetic to individual considerations of identity and experience.
Lisa continues to educate herself in the current discourse related to anti-racism, implicit bias, diversity and inclusion, and the ways these factors show up in fitness culture. As athLEDA Arise's Senior Advisor to the Black Womxn College Athlete Experience, Lisa lends her perspective as a black female athlete to help create a framework that better supports women of color.
